242 – Holiday Series: Raising Kids from The Adult Chair

“Help! I think I’ve ruined my kids’ lives!”

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard this from clients, listeners and even my own inner critic. No one gets a trial run at parenting, which leads to a lot of self-doubt among parents. We’re all learning as we go, and it’s easy to wonder if we’re doing it right or if we should just go ahead and start a therapy fund for our kids to work through the issues we created.

Well, this episode is here to help you put your fears to rest and help you become the healthiest (NOT perfect) parent you can be. I’m breaking down my seven tips for healthy parenting from your Adult Chair (hint: they’re more about you than your kids) and hopefully providing a little reassurance that you’re normal and no, you haven’t ruined your kids lives (wait until you hear the not-so-proud parenting moments I share!).

Listen to discover:

  • What a parent’s job actually is
  • Seven steps to become a healthy parent
  • Why there’s no such thing as perfect
  • Finding compassion for yourself and your kids
  • How to handle it when your kids trigger you
  • Setting boundaries and how to respond when your child makes a mistake

Whether you feel like you’ve screwed up or you’re just starting out and trying to get it right, I promise that it’s never too late. When YOU become healthy and live in your Adult Chair, your kids will see it modeled and become healthy too. Check out this episode to get simple, practical tips you can put into action to change the way you parent today.
